In order to get our sport boat license for german inland waterways, we decided to book a 5 day theoretic and practice course in Tutzing, a cute and quite little village at the Starnberg Lake in Bavaria, 30 kilometers outside of Munich. www.segelschule-tutzing.de while you are actually learning how to sail, you can enjoy the absolutely magnificent beauty of the lake and the landscape with a mind-blowing panorama of the alps on the south side of the lake.
Everyday beginning at 9 am we had a quick introduction in the course plan for the day and a few minutes discussing the theoretical parts for the day. After everyone was getting their boats ready in a team of two persons per boat, we started sailing for the day. As the boats are manufactured in Tutzing in 1960 and made out of wood, it was a bit of work to get them ready.
Sometimes they were a bit uncomfortable, but in the end, we really learned the single parts and their use, which definitely is very important in order to be able to sail and to handle your boat even in difficult and dangerous situations.
from 12 until 1pm we had a lunch break which we spend at the beautiful relaxed restaurant and biergardens in Tutzing at the lakeside with stunning views over the water and the Alps.
On the last day we had our theoretical exam followed by the maneuver exam, and at around 4 pm we all held our license in our hands.
very popular tanning and bathing peer is in Seeshaupt at the restaurant Lido. You enjoy either traditional german dishes in a romantic atmosphere, or the casual way in the biergarten next to it. Before and after take a swing and relax on the peer
